Match Report v Currie FC

29 Oct 2017 by Stuart Mclean

Easthouses 4-2 Currie FC

⚽️ Shay Patterson x2
⚽️ Shayne McRae
⚽️ Euan Bernard

A very tight game today for Easthouses where we never got into top gear, but it’s the measure of a team that can still grind out a result despite not matching the high standards the kids have set themselves. Currie were out the traps sharp and put us under a fair bit of pressure which we managed to deal with. Midway through the first half we were dispossessed on the edge of the box and Currie made no mistake slotting in from close range. This was the wake up call the team needed as we started to come into the game. On 18 minutes Euan Brownlees low cross was converted by Shay Patterson who had managed to get in front of his marker to poke the ball home. 5 minutes later Euan and Shay combined again as we won a free kick just inside Curries half, Euan laid the ball off for Shay to strike the ball which somehow managed to find its way into the net, but they all count and into the break 2-1 up. The game was now going end to end and Currie equalised early into the half. Both teams were creating chances as the balance of the game ebbed and flowed until with 10 minutes remaining Shay played in Shayne McRae one on one with the keeper, Shaynes shot was spilled by the keeper and bobbled into the goal again they all count. Currie then started to hit us with everything they had left and with seconds remaining put us under heavy pressure from a corner kick that we managed to clear and set off on a 3v2 counter attack with the ball ending up at Euan Bernard’s feet inside the box to finish high into the net to secure the win with the last kick of the game. A great win for the kids in what they described the hardest game this season!

Very difficult to pick a man of the match today, but we felt Shayne deserved it for his incredible improvement and the amount of effort he put into the game. Well done Shayne 🍾

As always thanks to all the parents for bringing the kids along on a Sunday morning and their continued support from the side. Thanks to B & D Roofing and Building Ltd for their continued support and thanks to my mum Nora McLean for her work in the kitchen, making us a small fortune.

No training on Tuesday due to Halloween 🎃 and we will see how many we have for Thursday before making a decision on that.

Thanks everyone enjoy the rest of your weekend 😊
