Performance of the season for Easthouses as we break our own league record with 7 straight wins in our last home game of the year. Thanks to Steven and his coaching team for traveling through for this mornings game and we hope they’re kids aren’t too disheartened by today’s result as they came up against our kids who were firing on all cylinders today.
Quite an even opening 5 minutes to the game with chances created by both sides. First goal of the game came on 6 minutes when Jack Thomson stretched onto Lenny Sneddons cross and tapped it in, injuring himself in the process. A couple of minutes later Euan Bernard picked the ball up about 20 yards out and unleashed a rocket that caught out the Cragie goalie and nearly took the net off. A few minutes after that and Shayne McRae added to our lead when he intercepted the Goalkeepers pass out and his first time shot screamed into the net. Damin Alderton added a 4th from a corner that fell into the box and Damin was quickest to react to prod the ball home in the 14th minute. Into the last 5 minutes of the half and Thomas Baxter laid off Euan Brownlee to slot in at the near post as Craigroyston grabbed a goal with the last kick of the half to put us 5-1 into the break.
A flurry of goals started the 2nd half as Jay Prestages shot deflected off a defender and nestled in the net. Thomas fired in a quick double as his right foot shot found the bottom corner and we gathered the ball quickly from the restart and Thomas again picked up the ball and beat 2 defenders and smashed a shot into the net. On 37 minutes Euan Brownlees shot took a nick off of Shay Patterson to put us 9-1 up. Euan got himself into the same situation a couple of minutes later, curling an effort into the far corner, Jack tried to get a nick on it to claim the goal but the near side line parents said he didn’t. The visitors doubled their tally shortly before Jack was played through one on one with the keeper and his shot hit the bar and may or may not have crossed the line, jack didn’t take any chances and followed in just to be sure as the feast of goals in the last 10 minutes started. Euan Brownlee completed his hat trick after some great link up play with Shay, Euan Bernard added his second soon after and Jay got a second not long after that as the visitors really started to tire out. Thomas Baxter completed his hat trick with one of the last kicks of the game to put the cherry on an emphatic team display.

Paul and I had been discussing how impressed we were with Damins play during the game and the kids voted Thomas man of the match so we decided to jointly award men of the match to Thomas and Damin. 2 terrific display from an exceptional team performance 🍾🍾⚽️🔥👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
