Massive thanks to Craig and everyone from Tranent Colts for coming through for today’s game, difficult conditions on what can be best deacribe as a cow field.
Great performance and more back to old selves today with some great passing on display. We settled into the game very quickly and created some decent chances. Then a moment of brilliance from Brian has he revived the ball with his back to goal flicking through the defenders legs before lashing a shot into the top corner from outside the box, a goal even the visiting team praised. Brian doubled his tally soon after after gambling on Liams shot that was parried by the Goalkeeper into Brian’s path who slotted home from close range. Tranent started to come into the game a bit more creating chances but were unlucky to see them flash wide. Brian completed his hat trick after beating the offside trap when Euan slipped him in with only the keeper to beat, a great pass from and composed finish from Brian to put him on 4 goals for the season. Esa rounded off the scoring for the first half after Jacks marauding run down the right wing and firing a low cross across goal which Esa should fantastic determination to get on the end of and tap into the empty net, earning his first Easthouses goal.
Into the second half and after a few alterations to the line up to give the players some experience of some of their less comfortable positions allowed Tranent to get more of a grip of the game scoring twice early in the second half to put us under pressure, Harry making some very brave saves to keep us ahead while we tried to settle back into the game, which we did midway through and started to add to the score Jay heading in a bullet header from close range from Liam’s exceptional corner. Harry was getting called into the game more and more as Tranent surged forward looking to get a foothold into the game again making more brave saves at the feet of attackers. Tranent scored a set piece goal of their own late on when a corner was vollied in from close range but Euan wrapped up the game in the final few minutes with a great turn and shot which screamed into the far corner, another goal that got praise from the Tranent coaches.
A great team performance after a difficult few weeks and special mentions to Jay who was great in an unusual Centre Back position, Esa on a strong display today and Brian who worked tirelessly Box to Box despite meaning to be upfront
