Massive thanks to Craig and Gordon and their Currie team for hosting us today. A very tough shift for the kids today with the warm conditions and no substitutes available to keep the team fresh. We started the game very well creating a lot of chances and took an early lead when Brian found the net after latching on to Euans through pass. He longer the half went on the more Currie came into the game as we started to tire and Currie got the equaliser that was long coming late in the half and the kids looked down at half time.
After a quick pep talk and formation change the kids came out the second half flying and re took the lead with Shayne catching he ball on the half volley and thundering the ball into the net. Currie again started to put pressure on us with only a string of stunning stops from Harry between the sticks keeping us ahead. We started to grow in confidence and Esa got the goal that was long coming for him after some great play down the right. Harry still keeping us ahead in the game as he came up with an answer for everything Currie were throwing at us. Brian added on tonour lead to give us a 3 goal cushion going into the last 10 minutes when some fantastic wing play by Esa allowed him to drive into the box and find Brian unmarked for an easy tap in.
Great display from the kids today and it was hard to pick a player of the game but the kids decided that it should go to Harry, the stops he made when the game was so evenly balanced really did help us get the result with a string of point blank saves that i was sure we’re going to end up in the net. Harry even got praise from Curries coach. Special mentions have to go to all the kids today though as they all worked hard for each other and had to dig deep with no subs
